Ferenc Deák on the banknote of 20 000 Hungarian forints

Hungarian forints

The forint is the national currency of Hungary that is introduced in 1946 with the purpose of replacing the previous hyperinflationary currency called pengő (the Hungarian pengő holds the world record for hyperinflation and the biggest denomination has been 1021 pengő). Forint is the name of the currency of Hungary during XIV and XIX century. The origin of the word comes from Italian, from the name of Florence. On the banknote of 20 00 forint is portrayed Ferenc Deák - a Hungarian statesman and one of the ideologists of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
